Dear first grade families,
I am sure many of you all have a lot of questions and feelings regarding what hybrid learning is going to look like for your student. Our plan is to keep schedules and routines as similar as possible for continuity of learning. I am attaching our hybrid schedule to this email. You will see a side-by-side schedule for students at school and students learning from home. This schedule may need to be adjusted once we see what works for our class and what does not. Our Google Meets will begin at 8:00am (15 minutes later) and will end at 1:40pm (30 minutes later). Students will have "morning work" to do from 7:45-8:00 that will be posted in our Google Classroom stream each morning. Also, please note that our schedule for Wednesday is different and ends at 12:30pm. One big change will be with our "specials" (Art/Technology/Music/Physical Education) classes. For safety purposes, we will have each subject for 2 weeks and then switch. I will email and post the specials schedule for first grade in the stream. First graders will have Art/Technology from March 1- March 12th.
For families who are in pod A (Mon/Tues) and pod B (Thurs/Fri):
Each morning the CPS health screener must be completed before they come to Columbus. I am attaching the link to this email. You need your child's email address or CPS ID number. You were sent their ID numbers in the beginning of the school year to set up their CPS email accounts. If you have difficulty finding this information please email me by 6pm Sunday. I will be sure to check my email and help you with needed information so you have a smooth Monday or Thursday morning.
This letter about needed supplies and skills has been emailed several times leading up to hybrid beginning, but I am attaching it again just in case you need it. In addition to the items listed in the attached letter, each day your student will need to bring their Raceway workbook, Math pages**, and their magnetic dry-erase board. (Students will be given a pencil case that includes needed supplies that will be left at school.) Math pages will be posted under the Classwork section in our Google Classroom by Sunday evening each week. Please put the weekly math pages in your math folder so your child will not need to carry their thick math workbook.
Thank you in advance for your patience and gentle feedback as we embark on a new way to learn...again.

WORD LISTS
Dear first grade families,
Attached are 3 word lists. If you picked up a hard copy of our schoolwork packet last Monday, then you already have them. These are the 1st 3- 100 word lists. These are words should be recognized by sight. For students who already have mastery of reading these words, please focus on spelling. Choose 10 words to practice for the week. (Help your child select words they do not already know.)
This is all so strange, and I miss seeing your amazing kids daily already. I know this is longer than we initially thought. Please know that I am here to support you in your child's learning. If something is or is not working, please let me know so I can help. We differentiate SO MUCH in the classroom, and I am happy to help continue that with learning at home.
Sincerely, Ms. Blochowiak
